"Restorative yoga is a kind of active relaxation, since its techniques help us learn how to unwind, and de-stress in order to reboot and restore our nervous system by taking as much pressure off our bodily functions as possible. The aim is to feel weightless." - Ulrica Norberg
Restorative yoga is like floating on air. With the use of props, the goal of restorative yoga is to feel effortless. It is a passive form of yoga meant to help us relax. Once you are safely and comfortably arranged in your props, you rest in the pose for at least 10 minutes. Again, the goal is to feel as if you are floating on a cloud, with no stress on the body.
A beautiful complement to our active, busy lifestyles it allows us to find pause and stillness; to breathe and relax. It regulates the nervous system and increases the relaxation response in your brain. When done regularly, you quickly begin to feel the results off the mat. It is a treat to come home to yourself through restorative yoga.
